My most recent film ‘Dazzle Time Travel’ – Widescreen Projected Animated Commission Produced for Real Ideas CIC.

A different way to tell regional history, through animating period art, paintings & photography.

The aim was to inspire, educate and inform the public on their own rich cultural heritage. The historical narrative would vary widely according to the locality, but it proved a great way to draw crowds in public spaces, such as the light & projection festivals, as well as cultural and public institutions, like museum with an immersive installation.

This innovative approach uses AI to generate images for hard to cover periods of history, and uses it in a way that is as ethical and responsible as possible, to create movement, 3D dimension & dynamics within any artist’s original work, without substantially altering the essence of the original work and vision.

Although mostly using classical paintings, as time travels into the 19th & 20th centuries, photography also becomes a canvas on which to create new motion and emotion, to gain period detail through movement and hopefully develop storytelling in a way that informs, engages and inspires the viewer.

Thanks to Real Ideas and The Media Workshop for funding and help in producing what was for me an interesting experience and what so far seems to be a unique piece.

2024 was the two hundredth anniversary of the founding of Devonport.

For a community that has experienced profound change, it is important to mark the moment, explore it’s contested history, recognise the many achievements, celebrate local communities and look forward to future opportunities and challenges.

To do this, Real Ideas, a Devonport based organisation, with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and HM Government Shared Prosperity Fund, has worked with a partnership of key organisations to deliver a year-long programme of co-produced activities, culminating in the Dazzle festival to ‘light up’ Devonport in late February 2025.

Join us on the opening night of Dazzle, a four day event shining a light on 200 years of Devonport’s creativity, innovation and heritage and looking forward to an exciting future.

Taking place from the 27th of February till 2nd of March, 5.30 pm – 9.30pm, Dazzle’ will offer audiences of all ages a powerful immersive experience. Using projection mapping, light art installations, heritage exhibits, dome experiences, performances and lots of opportunities to engage and participate, the free to access festival will bring the diverse heritage of Devonport to life.
